Microbarium is a screen-cleaning game. We built it to be fun, not to learn things about you. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no name or email is ever required to use the app.
Everything you do in the app lives on your iPhone and is never uploaded:
If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
Anonymous usage statistics. We record which screens are opened and which actions are taken — for example, that a cleaning session was finished, or that a paywall was shown. This is tied to a random identifier generated by the app, not to you. It tells us which parts of the game work and which do not.
A random device identifier. Created by the app itself. It lets us count returning players and keep your subscription attached to your device. It is not your Apple ID, not your phone number, and it is not the advertising identifier — we never request permission to track you, because we do not.
Subscription status. Whether you are Free or Pro, and whether a trial is active. Purchases themselves are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Crash and performance reports. If the app crashes, we receive an anonymous technical report so we can fix it.
Approximate region. Our analytics providers derive a country or city from the network address your request arrives on. We use it only to understand where players are; we do not collect or store your precise location, and the app never asks for location access.
Your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, health data, or the contents of your screen. The app has no camera or microphone access. We do not show ads, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers.
With your permission, the app reads your iPhone's step count and daily activity summary. It uses this to guess how busy your day has been, and turns that into the game's Gunk level — the number that decides when the app suggests a clean.
To be clear about what this is not: the app does not and cannot inspect your screen, and nothing here is a real measurement of dirt. It is a playful estimate based on how much you moved around, nothing more.
Step data is processed on your device only and is never transmitted. You can refuse or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app keeps working, it just falls back to a simple time-based guess.
If you allow them, the app can send optional reminders. You can turn them off in iOS Settings or inside the app.
These providers act on our behalf under their own privacy terms. None of them receives information that identifies you personally.
Microbarium is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Anonymous statistics are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. On-device data lives as long as the app is installed.
Because we hold no information that identifies you, we usually cannot find "your" records on request. You can still delete everything at any time by deleting the app. If you are in the EU, UK or California and want to ask about your data, write to us and we will help as far as the anonymous nature of the data allows.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note it in the app's release notes.
